Department of Sociology, Anthropology, and Social Work: Assistant Professor of Anthropology with a research and teaching focus on Native American Studies
The University of South Alabama Department of Sociology, Anthropology and Social Work invites applications for a twelve-month, half-time, non-tenure-track, partially externally funded, assistant professor position in Anthropology, with a research and teaching focus on Native American Studies, to begin on June 1, 2025. We encourage applications from any time period or geographic region in what became the United States. Teaching experience is preferred. We especially encourage applications from a broadly-trained cultural anthropologist who is strongly committed to undergraduate education and active field research. A Ph.D. in Native American Studies or Cultural Anthropology is required by time of appointment.
The successful candidate will have a teaching home in the Department of Sociology, Anthropology, and Social Work, which houses the Native American Studies Program.
